Kathleen McLean

Bassoon

Kathleen McLean is currently Associate Professor and chair of the woodwinds at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
She has been on faculty since 2010 and before that was a long-time member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Kathleen is an advocate of new music and has for the last few years collaborated with prominent Dutch composer, Chiel Meijering on premiering and performing many of his new bassoon concertos written in the period of 2017-2021. These works are an exciting new addition to the modern bassoon repertoire and include several concertos for bassoon and multiple bassoons, chamber music, and works for piano and bassoon. There are well over 130 new pieces written by Meijering during this period and are all published through Donemus music.
