Jon Halvor Lund


Jon Halvor Lund was appointed co-principal bassoon of the Norwegian National Opera in 2014, after serving as principal bassoon with the Kristiansand Symphony since 2004. He has been guest principal with a.o. The Norwegian Radio, Oslo Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony, Danish National Symphony, and Barcelona Symphony. An avid chamber musician, he is a member of Oslo Chamber Academy, a wind octet with double bass consisting of principal players from Oslo’s Philharmonic, Radio, and Opera orchestras.
He teaches at the Arctic University of Norway and Barratt Due Institute of Music.
Jon studied in Oslo, Norway, and Hannover, Germany, with bassoon teachers Torleiv Nedberg, Eirik Birkeland, and Dag Jensen.
Soloist performances include concerti by Jolivet and Vivaldi with the Kristiansand Symphony, and Mozart with both the Norwegian Opera and the Orquesta Lirica Lado B in Buenos Aires. In Argentina, he has presented the Latin American premieres of pieces by Hovland, Kleiberg, and Kvandal.
