Mezzo, voice teacher, and opera director Dr. Ann Marie Wilcox-Daehn keeps a busy calendar of performing, teaching, and directing. She is the Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at Missouri State.
Ann Marie has over 50 opera and musical theatre roles in her repertoire. Internationally and domestically, she performs in solo and chamber¯recitals with traditional as well as more obscure repertoire. She and collaborator Elizabeth Avery have a series of lecture recitals that includes songs by 11 female composers. The duo’s performances of Sergius Kagen songs earned them the Ernst Bacon American Prize. Recent performances included the world premiere of Michael Murray’s Butterfly Days, Ingrid Stölzel’s Livid Loneliness of Fear (with text by Amelia Earhart), and Carlisle Sharpe’s Of These Years I Sing. In 2022 she will premiere the first installment of songs from the perspective of each of the First Ladies of the United States.
